A meeting of top three parties, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist), on Tuesday morning concluded with a four-point agreement. The parties met at the office of Peace Trust Secretariat in Babarmahal.
UCPN (Maoist) has agreed to investigate vote rigging through a commission formed from the Constituent Assembly
The parties have decided to continue the High Level Political Committee (HLPC), including the parties that form the Constituent Assembly
The parties have committed to formulate the new constitution within a year
The parties have agreed to form the Truth and Reconciliation Committee
The agreement is expected to be formalised in a meeting of the HLPC at 3pm today, which will include other parties as well.
The parties have held several rounds of inconclusive talks to reach this agreement. This agreement opens possibility of the parties meeting the 25 December deadline of the Election Commission to submit the candidate list in the proportional representation category, essential for the formation of the Constituent Assembly.
