RPP to get two seats in cabinet; names proposed

After much deliberation, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chaired by Surya Bahadur Thapa has been able to convince Prime Minister Sushil Koirala that it deserves not one, but two berths in the cabinet.

The RPP has come up with the name of Sunil Bahadur Thapa as the Minister for Supplies and Giri Bahadur KC as a minister of state, it is learnt. The names have been sent to PM Koirala on Thursday.

Thapa is son of party president and a serving Constituent Assembly member. He won the election from Dhankuta-2 under the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system.

KC is not a CA member. His ministry is yet to be finalized.

In the NC-UML coalition government, certain seats have been set aside for smaller parties. Along with RPP, the CPN (ML) chaired by CP Mainali was also supposed to join the government in one seat. However, talks are not moving ahead effectively in this regard.
