Three major political parties – Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) held a meeting at Prime Minister Sushil Koirala’s official residence at Baluwatar, Kathmandu on Wednesday evening to discuss some serious contemporary issues.
The meeting was convened mainly to discuss the much-talked about bill on forming commission on truth and reconciliation along with disappearances.
Parties have, in principle, agreed to bring all conflict-period cases of rights violation under the purview of the commission, instead of dealing them individually, it is learnt.
It implies that the conflict-period (1996-2006) Adhikari murder case, too, will fall under the jurisdiction of the commission.
“Discussions will be held with other parties, too, after the meeting of three parties is over,” said Prakash Adhikari, the PM’s press advisor, before the meeting began formally today.
The meeting was still ongoing at the time of writing this news.
