At a time while ruling CPN (UML)'s ninth general convention is coming nearer and leader KP Oli is undergoing treatment in Bangkok, party’s senior leader Oli panel has announced the candidacies for some senior posts in the party.
Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Monday, Vice-Chairperson of the party Biddya Bhandari announced that the party’s Parliamentary Party leader KP Oli will be unanimously elected the chairman of the party in the general convention.
Vice-Chairperson Bhandari also announced the name of the current Vice-Chairperson Bamdev Gautam as for Senior Vice-Chairperson and Ishwor Pokhrel as General Secretary.
Oli will be Chairperson of the party though consensus among the senior leaders, said Bhandari adding that the party will follow democratic ways if consensus is not forged on the same.
“Leader Oli is only one candidate for this post as senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal had worked as the General Secretary of the party for 15 years and current Chairperson Jhalanath Khanal has already worked for two terms.” she said.
The party’s general convention is scheduled for July 3-8, 2014 in Kathmandu.
