Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nilkantha Upreti has said that preparations for the Constituent Assembly (CA) by-elections on June 22 have reached the final stage.
Addressing a program organized by the Election Education and Information Centre in Kathmandu on Friday to disseminate information on the preparations for the by-election, CEC Upreti said no one should doubt about the integrity of the by-election.
He said electronic voting machines are being used in the by election with the objective of achieving the condition: 'all votes valid votes, entire voting easy voting'. The Chief Election Commissioner said the use of machines would be expanded in the coming elections.
Election Commissioner Ila Sharma said the Election Commission was working to conduct the by-election in a free and fair manner.
EC Secretary Madhu Regmi said the commission was committed to increasing the credibility of the election and making it free of error.
