India’s Minister for External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj will visit Nepal on July 25-27 this month.
According to a statement released by Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, Swaraj is visiting Nepal following an invitation from Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey.
This will be Swaraj's first official visit to Nepal as the External Affairs Minister of India. Minister Swaraj will lead the Indian delegation in the 3rd Nepal-lndia Joint Commission meeting to be held on July 26-27, 2014.
Established at the Foreign Ministers' level in 1987, the Joint Commission is a bilateral mechanism to oversee the entire gamut of Nepal-lndia relations and provide directives on measures to further strengthen these relations.
During her visit, Swaraj will call on the President, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Constituent Assembly and Legislative Parliament. She will also meet political leaders, including the Leader of the main Opposition Party in the Legislative Parliament, added the statement.
