A sub-committee under the Constituent Assembly (CA)’s Constitutional-Political Consensus and Dialogue Committee held discussions with the political parties outside the CA on Monday to collect suggestions in course of the ongoing constitution drafting process.

“A total of 42 political parties were invited and 12 parties took part in the discussions,” said Ashok Rai, a member of the sub-committee.

The sub-committee will forward written suggestions acquired from such discussions to the main committee after reviewing them, Rai added.

The parties participating in today's discussions presented their views regarding the issue of federalism according to their manifesto, said Devi Prasad Acharya, Chairman of Shanti Party Nepal.

The meeting will continue on Tuesday, as all the representatives did not receive time to express their views today.
