UML chair Oli off to Singapore

CPN-UML chairperson KP Sharma Oli has left for Singapore on Tuesday for his further health check up.

Oli declined to speak to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport before leaving for Singapore.

According to the UML central committee member Rajan Bhattarai, Oli will receive medical treatment at the National University Hospital in Singapore as per the doctors' advice. He said Oli's itinerary had to be arranged in a hurry as the doctors at the hospital fixed Wednesday for an appointment.

It is estimated that Oli's treatment will take a week. He is going for further treatment as the swelling in his infected right hand has not abated. Bhattarai said Oli had no other health problem besides this.

Minister for Energy Radha Gyawali, Minister for Industries Karna Bahadur Thapa and leader Keshav Badal, among others, were present at the airport to see off the party chair.

Oli is accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya and an aide Rajesh Bajracharya.

Meanwhile, party chair Oli has assigned vice chairperson Bamdev Gautam to officiate as the party chairperson in his absence. Gautam is the senior-most vice cjhairperson of the party and he has been given the responsibility of the officiating chairperson in keeping with the tradition, according to party leader Keshav Badal.
