Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that internal rift within the UCPN (M) will not get in the way of the constitution-making process.
Addressing a press conference organised by the Revolutionary Journalists Association - Chitwan District Chapter in Bharatpur on Friday morning, he said there was no possibility of a split in the party.
Dahal said, "The prevalent contradictions in the party will not escalate any further. Certain issues have arisen, but the process of resolving the same has begun." He assured that the current issue will not affect the constitution-drafting process.
He said his relation of debate and dialogue with senior leader Baburam Bhattarai has existed since 2041 BS and this was normal.
"The party high command will hold a meeting with him tomorrow - Saturday morning. I am sure we will resolve the issue," Dahal added.
Dahal assured that the party will not split, at least not until the constitution making-process was over.
On Wednesday, Baburam Bhattarai's close associates, in a gathering at his Sanepa residence, concluded that Dahal's action may hinder the constitution making process.
Asked if the new constitution would be produced in the stipulated time, Dahal said the UCPN (Maoist) was strongly in favour of writing a new constitution within the stipulated time.
He added that discussions were also on with the Prime Minister regarding taking the peace process to a conclusion.
The UCPN (Maoist) chairman arrived in Chitwan on Thursday to attend his mother-in-law Harikala Poudel's 13th day memorial services. He is returning to Kathmandu on Friday.
