At least four persons died and 52 others were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident in hilly district of Ramechhap Saturday.
The accident occurred when a packed bus (Na 1 Kha 7783) heading for Deurali from Manthali skidded off the road at Aitabare and fell some 100 meters below.
Two of the deceased have been identified as Goma Bhandari, 19, of Ramechhap and, Anusha BK, 18 of Okhaldhuga while the identity of the other two is yet to be ascertained, reports quoted Ramechhap district police as saying.
Among the injured, the condition of three passengers is said to be critical and they have been referred to the capital. Others are receiving treatment at different hospitals and health posts in the district.
It is believed that the bus fell off the road that had become slippery due to incessant rain in the past few days. The bus was carrying more than 70 passengers, most of them heading home for dashain.
A team of police and army personnel were aided by locals to rescue the passengers trapped inside the bus till late Saturday night.
