At least eight people have been killed and five injured in a jeep accident in a remote village in Parbat district on Tuesday.
The accident occurred when the jeep (Ga 1 Ja 5120) heading to Milanchowk from Uttari Majhphat VDC of the district met with an accident at Kholakhet of Majhphat-2. The jeep had skidded off the road and fell 500 meters down, ASI Purna Bahadur Nepali of the District Police Office, Parbat said. Fifteen people were travelling in the jeep at the time of the accident.
Nepali said a team comprising police personnel from the DPO and locals are currently involved in rescue operation at the site of the accident.
The victims have not been identified yet and the cause of the accident is still unclear.
In another report, two people were killed and other eight injured when a mini truck (Ba 1 Kha 8494) heading for Raniswar of Kalyanpur VDC from Bidur Municipality in Nuwakot district skidded 100 meters down the road yesterday night.
The victims of the accident are Ram Prasad Adhikari, 50, and Lalu Maya Tamang, 52, of Kalyanpur-9. Nepalnews.com
