The new Head of Department for International Development (DFID) Nepal, Dr. Gail Marzetti, takes office from Monday succeeding Dominic O’Neill.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to live and work in Nepal for the next few years. The UK has a strong relationship with Nepal, and we have been implementing our four year country plan, which I am sure is and will make a significant difference to the lives of many poor people in this country,” Marzetti said. “I am looking forward to working with the Government and people of Nepal and all our other partners to make this happen.”
Marzetti is an Agricultural Economist with a background in development, with work experience in Brazil and Mozambique. She has worked for DFID since 2000 in a variety of roles including Head of Office, United Nations/DFID representative and as Deputy Director of DFID’s Research and Evidence Division.
Gail will oversee DFID Nepal’s four-year £331 million country programme, the largest bilateral programme in Nepal.
