Committee formed to study Kaski’s sinkholes

A seven-member committee has been formed to carry out a scientific study of the sinkholes that have appeared at Jaimurephant in Armala VDC-1 of Kaski district.

Chief of Underground Waters and Irrigation Project Ramesh Gautam would lead the panel.

A meeting held Monday in the presence of Home Secretary Janardan Nepal and Irrigation Secretary Pratap Kumar Pathak decided to form the committee comprising representatives from Department of Irrigation, Department of Water Induced Disasters Control and Department of Mine and Geology.

The committee is given a month's period to submit its report.
