Far-western region hit by transport strike

Transport entrepreneurs have enforced a transportation strike in Far-western region on Friday.

All the transport syndicates of the region enforced the strike that halted vehicular movement in the region after failing to come to an agreement on the incident that took place three days ago in Kailali district when two youths died after being hit by a bus belonging to Karnali River Yatayat.

The transport entrepreneurs of Kailali have refused to fork out the compensation desired by the families of the two deceased youths, because of which the two sides failed to reach an agreement, according to reports.

The transport entrepreneurs and syndicates operating in the region – namely Karnali River Yatayat, Mahakali Yatayat, Far Western Yatayat, among others – brought the vehicular transportation to a grinding halt saying that the victims’ side should ask for “proper compensation” instead of something which the entrepreneurs cannot bear.

Normal life in few districts in the Far Western region including major towns have been affected as daily commuters have been forced to walk to their destination while long distance travelers including hundreds of travelers returning from India have been stranded at Mahendranagar Bus Park.
