The government is set to construct community houses for those rendered homeless due to weak financial condition.
The Ministry of Urban Development has developed a plan to build 2,500 community houses within the current fiscal year of 2070-71 BS. The government has come up with the house construction plan to address the growing demand of homeless people.
The government had already constructed more than 3,000 community houses in the first phase.
Ministry's Associate Spokesperson Kabindra Bikram Karki said the program will reach out to 27 districts to address the demands of homeless people. The community housing arrangement was already made in Rolpa, Dang, Doti, Achham, Saptari and Dhading districts in the first phase.
Under the second phase, the construction of 50 houses is underway. The construction of houses can be extended in the districts as per the demand, he added.
The government has invested Rs 600 million for the construction of community houses in the first phase while it will require Rs 500 million under the second phase.
