The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Friday filed corruption charges against former and incumbent officials of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) at the Special Court by accusing them of massive irregularities.
While probing into the multi-million dollar transformer scam, the anti-graft constitution body filed corruption case against 18 persons including former Acting Director of NEA Jivendra Jha and former General Managers Rameshwar Yadav, Yogul Kishor Sah and Chiranjivi Sharma.
Similarly, former Manager of NEA Kailash Prasad Attal, Deputy Managers Harish Bahadur Pal and Dillraman Dahal, former Acting Director Astaratna Shakya, former Account Officer Suresh Kumar Katuwal, former
Assistant Accountant Sushil Prasad Khanal and Tripura Prasad Singh, Assistant Manager Surendra Prasad Paneru, former Deputy Manager Surendra Prasad Paneru were also among those against whom CIAA filed corruption charges.
CIAA claims that NEA incurred millions of rupees in losses because of massive misappropriation by the former and incumbent officials of state-owned NEA during the purchase of substandard transformers for NEA from various Chinese companies.
CIAA had begun investigation into the multi-million dollar transformer scam in September 2012 after the NEA staff unions filed complaints of massive irregularities during the purchase of substandard transformers. Nepalnews.com
