Truant doctors who don't provide effective health treatment to patients won't be spared: Health Minster

Minister for Health and Population Khagaraj Adhikari has warned that strict action will be taken against doctors and health professionals who deny patients and service seekers medical treatment and other health services.

Talking to media-persons after making a sudden inspection of Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan Wednesday, Minister Adhikari said, "doctors who don’t come to hospital on time and fail to give proper treatment and health care to patients won’t be spared."

He also expressed grave concern over doctors devoting more time in private hospitals and clinic rather than government hospitals where they work and draw salary from, adding that this kind of truancy won't be tolerated.

Minister Adhikari also urged doctors to do away with mistakes, shortcomings and malpractices in government hospitals in order to make delivery of essential health services effective the general masses.
