Animal Nepal is set to organise Monkey Mela to celebrate animals and the environment from 3-6 on Saturday at Dhobighat in Lalitpur.
Monkey Mela features Animal Nepal’s long running Garage Sale for a Better World, recycling workshops for children, puppy adoption and Kathmandu’s first ever Mongolian yurt.
Second hand goods vendors will be joined by creative, responsible entrepreneurs, who through ‘upcycling’ turn waste materials into beautiful articrafts. Bottles to Beads, Ishine and Animal Nepal are among the producers.
Under the guidance of Sony KC and Coralie Muller, children can learn to do some upcycling of their own, or practice zoomba dancing.
There will be great vegetarian food, some of which can be enjoyed in a comfortable traditional Mongolian tent (yurt or ger) imported and produced by Green Architects.
The income of Monkey Mela goes to needy animals treated by Animal Nepal.
Animal Nepal is an innovative animal welfare organization based in Lalitpur. The organization runs outreach programmes for dogs, donkeys and elephants, and manages two shelters, the Chobar Animal Sanctuary and Godavari Donkey Sanctuary.
