A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday against the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) decision to summon the Judicial Council (JC) members in relation to the recommendation of the SC judges.

Former registrar at the SC Shreeprasad Pandit filed the writ claiming that PHSC's move was wrong and against the Constituent Assembly (CA) Procedures Regulations 2070.

Assistant Spokesperson at the SC Baburam Dahal confirmed that the writ was filed at the SC with an argument that the PHSC's decision to summon the JC members was unconstitutional.

The writ petitioner has also argued that the PHSC's step was against the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2063 BS and CA Regulations.

The PHSC has invited the JC members on May 18 for receiving information regarding the recommendation of the SC justices.

PHSC, Ministry of Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs and JC Secretary have been made defendants in the writ.
