Textbook shortage grips Saptari

There is still shortage of textbooks of grade 9 and 10 in Saptari district.

Most of the students of class 9 and 10 in Saptari district have not got textbooks as one month passed after the beginning of the new academic session and mostly students of grade 10 have been hit hard due to this.

Students and teachers are compelled to visit the book shops at the district headquarters since long, but returned with empty hand.  

Manjit Yadav, a 10 grader at Chandra Higher Secondary School, Bode Basain, said that he was in tense how to complete the course without books.

Ramakanta Yadav, principle at the Mahendra Chuni Secondary School, problem has surfaced to carryout teaching learning activities due to lack of books.

He added that students are compelled to go to school with empty bag.

According to the District Education Office, Saptari, the district needs 9,000 sets of books for class 9 and 10 each.

Book distributors said that problem has surfaced as the district so far has got only 2,000 sets of books of class 9 and 10 each against the demands.

Stating that teaching learning activities of around 18,000 students of class 9 and 10 in the district would be affected this year if government failed to make other arrangement, teachers said that the government should pay its attention towards it immediately.
