Jiri landslide kills 4

Four people died and eight were injured after a landslide hit Jiri Bus Park in Dolakha at around midnight on Saturday. The condition of three of the injured -- 40-year-old Kritiman Jirel, Guna Kumari Jirel, 36, and Ang Dawa Tamang, all from Jiri-6 -- is critical.


The dead have been identified by the police as Sujal Jirel, aged five; Sushma Jirel, 14, and Pema Sherpa and her 17-year-old daughter Phurlamu Sherma, all residents of Jiri-7.

According to Lieutenant Hem Shiwakoti from Nepal Army's Charikot-based Bardabahadur Battalion, the landslide demolished houses around 20 meters from the bus station in the Jiri-Thhose road.
