Two people killed, one missing in Rautahat boat capsize

Two women were killed and a man is missing after a boat carrying locals capsized in the swollen Bagmati River in Rauthat district of central Terai, on Thursday.

The incident occurred at around 5 pm, Thursday, at Pipar Rajwada VDC-7 of the district.

Talking to nepalnews, Armed Police Force Inspector Rupak Napit said that the dead were identified as Sakulidevi Pandit, 50, and Dukhiyadevi Das, 65, locals of Pipar Rajwada.

65-year old Mahadev Kushawa is still missing.

According to Napit, they were coming back home after work from the adjoining Sarlahi district.

Nepal Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force have started rescue and search operations immediately after reaching the incident site, said Napit.

According to the security forces, around 50 people were on the boat at the time of the incident.
