Minister for Commerce and Supplies, Sunil Bahadur Thapa has arrived in Nepalgunj, Banke to speed up the rescue and relief works for the flood and landslide victims in the mid-west and far-west regions.
Minister Thapa has arrived in Nepalgunj following an instruction from Prime Minister Sushil Koirala amid complaints against the government for being slow in discharging the works.
Writing a letter on Tuesday, PM Koirala instructed Minister Thapa to take ahead the rescue and relief works being based in Nepalgunj to all affected areas.
The PM also directed the Minister to mobilize all government offices and resources in the flood and landslide affected areas for the prompt rescue and relief works.
Minister Thapa has to submit a report to the PM about the progress of the works.
More than 100 people have died in Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, Dang and Surkhet districts due to flood and landslide, while over 20,000 people have been displaced.
