The host Armed Police Force (APF) clinched the title of First Armed Police Force IGP National Open Women's Volleyball Competition on Sunday.
In the final match held at National Sports Council covered hall at Tripureswor today, the APF defeated New Diamond Sports Club 3-2 to name the title on its name.
Though New Diamond had won the first set by 26-24, APF won second with 25-11. However, Diamond third set of 25-22 also gone as APF won the rest sets by 25-22 and 15-12.
With the title, APF bagged Rs 250,000 while New Diamond has to satisfy to Rs 125,000.
Meanwhile, Western Development Region secured third position after beating Nepal Police by 25-18, 25-26 and 25-11. The region won Rs 50,000.
APF's Saraswoti Chaudhary of Dhangadhi also won the best player of the tournament. She won a scooter.
Similarly, APF coach Kapil Kishor Shrestha was declared the best coach.
IGP of Armed Police Force Kosh Raj Onta and APF Central Sports Commitee Chairman Durja Kumar Rai handed over the prizes to the winners.
APF AIG Durja Kumar Rai ha d also claimed that that this was the highest cash prize ever in women´s volleyball in the country.
Altogether eight teams including one team each from the five development regions and host APF, Police and New Diamond Club will vie for the title in the event. The tournament was played on league-cum-knockout format. Nepalnews.com
