The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has selected final squad for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers scheduled to be held in UAE from November 10, 2013.
The CAN on Thursday announced the 15-member squad including captain Paras Khadka, vice-captain Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Vesawkar, Amrit Bhattarai, Shakti Gauchan, Basanta Regmi, Rahul Kumar Vishwakarma, Binod Bhandari, Pradeep Airee, Anil Mandal, Sagar Pun, Jitendra Mukhiya, Mahesh Chettri, Subash Kakurel and Avinash Karn.
Similarly, Naresh Bahadur Budayer, Ram Naresh Giri, Chanda Saud and Bhuwan Karki are selected as alternatives.
Altogether 16 teams are competing in the tournament – eight each in Group A and Group B. These 10 teams have qualified from regional Twenty20 tournaments and top six from the previous edition.
Nepal has been drawn alongside Afghanistan, Bermuda, Denmark, Kenya, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea and Scotland in Group B.
Similarly, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Namibia, Uganda, UAE and United States are in Group A.
The top six teams will qualify for the 2014 ICC World Twenty20. Each group plays a round-robin tournament.
Nepal will take on Denmark in the inaugural match of the tournament on November 15. Nepalnews.com
