Nepal Army Club (NAC) and Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) have made flying start in the Ncell Cup Football Tournament that kicked off at Dasharath Stadium from Monday.
In the inaugural match, Army secured 2-0 easy victory against Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC). Jawalakhel was under pressure over the match.
Nawayug Shrestha scored an opening goal in 86th minute and Padam Tamang added another in the injury time of the second half to beat JYC.
Sherpa beat NIBL Friends Club 3-1 in another match of the day. Sherpa’s Pukar Gahatraj scored an opening goal in the 38th minute while Dhiraj Tamang doubled the tally in the 63rd minute.
Segun Akinade added another in the 74th minute just one minute interval after Arjun Subba scored a consolation for Friends.
Three Star Club (TSC) will now face Armed Police Force (APF) while Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) will take on Boys Union Club (BUC) on Tuesday.
The winner of the tournament will bag Rs 1.5 million while the runner-up will receive Rs 700,000. Likewise, other semi-finalists will receive Rs 150,000 each. There are 12 teams competing for the title.
