Nepal loses to Air India by five wickets

Nepal has lost to Air India in the final match of the Journey to World Cup Cricket Tournament held at TU ground in Kirtipur Saturday.

Air India chased Nepal’s target of 277 runs in 43.5 overs at the loss of five wickets.

(Manoj Jha)Earlier, Nepal had set the 277 runs target after being put to bat first by Air India. Nepal played marvelously to score 276 runs with the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 45 overs. Nepal team captain Paras Khadka starred for Nepal hitting a well-played 61 while Anil Mandal and Sagar Pun scored a nifty 45 and 33 respectively to help Nepal put up a challenging total. Sharad Veswakar, whose 91 in yesterday's match against Singapore helped Nepal reach the final match, was out for just 8 runs.

Nepal had reached the finals of the tournament after beating Singapore by 227 runs on Friday while Air India had defeated another Indian side Delhi Wanderers to make it to the finals.
