Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) defended its title as the reigning winner of the Ncell Cup Football Tournament, as it defeated Boys Union 1-0 in the final match held at Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu on Tuesday.

As both the teams failed to score in the 90 minutes' regular time, the game was pushed into extra time. MMC's Sujal Shrestha netted the only winning goal in the last minutes of the extra time, thus avoiding a tiebreaker with the Boys Union.

With the win, MMC bagged a purse of Rs 1.5 million, while Boys Union received Rs 700,000.

MMC advanced to the final by defeating Sankata Club 1-0, while Boys Union defeated Nepal Army Club (NAC) in a sudden-death in the semis to advance to the final.

Boys Union, which is a club of Tripureshwor, was in the final of any crucial tournament after a gap of three decades.

Earlier, in the quarter-finals, Manang defeated Nepal Police Club 2-1, while Boys Union beat Three Star Club 2-1.

Both the teams had advanced to the final from Group D of the tournament. MMC had thrashed Boys Union 1-0 in the group stage match.

Today's win also secured the fourth title for Manang in this season, as it has already claimed Gurkha Cup in June, King’s Cup in Bhutan in August and Safal Cup in November.
