Nepal has been relegated to Division 3 as it lost it lost its fifth match against the Netherlands by seven wickets in the seventh place playoff of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers held at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui (neutral venue) in New Zealand on Sunday morning.
This is the fifth consecutive defeat for Nepal as it had lost against the UAE, Scotland, Hong Kong and Canada in the group stage matches.
In the first inning, Nepal posted a meager target of 172 runs losing nine wickets in allotted 50 overs. Sarad Vesawkar scored highest 42 runs while Paras Khadka hit 29 runs and Shakti Gauchan 26 runs.
Ahsan Malik grabbed three wickets while Vivian Kingma took two wickets for the Netherlands.
In return, the Netherlands chased the target in 31.5 overs with the loss of three wickets. Eric Szwarczynski made a half century scoring 56 runs and Peter Borren scored 45 not out.
Basanta Regmi claimed two wickets and Prithu Baskota took a wicket for Nepal.
