Sankata Club defeated Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) 2-1 to improve its position in the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull A Division Football League held at Dasharath Stadium on Monday.
Rajiv Gurung and Kalu Thapa scored a goal each for Sankata to secure a well-deserved victory over Sherpa. Palsang Lama scored a consolation for HSC.
With the win, Sankata has progressed to fourth spot with 19 points after playing 11 matches while Sherpa is at the seventh position with 15 points after playing same number of matches.
Meanwhile, Saraswoti Youth Club (SYC) and Armed Police Force (APF) played 2-2 draw in another match of the day.
Though APF had led the match in the early ninth minute though a goal from Nabin Lama, Pius Pius Henry leveled the score in the 35th minute and doubled the tally after three minutes of his first score.
However, Ranjan Bista goal in the 44th minute proved to be a match equalising score for Armed Police.
After sharing a point with SYC, APF is at the fifth spot with 18 points and Saraswoti is at eighth spot with 14 points after playing their respective 11 matches.
Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) and Boys Union Club (BUC) have already been relegated to B Division after finishing as last two teams in the league’s point chart.
