Machhindra Football Club (MFC) defeated Armed Police Force (APF) 1-0 in the Super Six round under the Martyr's Memorial Red Bull A Division League held at Dasharath Stadium on Sunday.
A single goal from Karna Limbu in the 77th minute helped MFC to secure victory against APF.
With the win, Machhindra has also stepped into the title race of the league with 31 points after playing 16 matches. However, Manang Marshyandi Club (MMC) is at the top of the chart with 32 points after 15 matches, with two matches in hand.
A win over Nepal Police Club (NPC) or Three Star Club (TSC) will directly lead MMC towards the title. However, if MMC loses both the matches and MFC beats Sankata Club in its last match of the league, it will have chance for the title.
Defending champion TSC is also in the title race with 28 points in hand. If MMC and MFC lose its remaining matches, TSC fate will shine for the title but it has to win both of its remaining matches against Sankata and MMC.
Three Star will take on Sankata in another match of the league on Monday.
The league’s champion will received Rs 7.5 million, which is the largest prize ever in Nepal’s history in such league.
