Nepal has defeated hosts UAE by 31 runs in a practice match for the upcoming T-20 World Cup 2014, Bangladesh played at ICC GCA Ground 1, Dubai on Friday.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal posted a modest target of 150 runs with the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Vice Captain Gyanendra Malla starred for the Nepali team as he hit a marvelous 52 runs while Captain Paras Khadka chipped in with 32 runs of his own to help Nepal post the target. Similarly, Shakti Gauchan made 15 not out.
In response, UAE were all out for just 118 runs in 19.4 overs as Nepali bowlers shined for Nepal. The Nepali attack was led by the country’s most promising bowler Sompal Kami who took three wickets for just 22 runs in the four overs allotted for bowlers. UAE saw its wickets fall at regular intervals as Jitendra Mukhiya, Basanta Regmi and Sagar Pun also claimed two wickets each.
Nepal, which is playing its first ever cricket worldcup, had lost to the Netherlands in a practice match for the world cup at ICC GCA Ground 1, Dubai on Thursday.
Nepal is in UAE for a week-long tour for probatter training and practice matches. It will fly to Bangladesh on 9 March for the World Cup.
