Host Nepal will take on Maldives in the inaugural match of the third SABA Championship 2014 at National Sports Council (NSC)’s covered hall in Tripurewor, Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The inaugural program will begin at 1.30 pm while the match between Nepal and Maldives will kick off at 2.10 pm tomorrow. Similarly, the second match of the day is scheduled at 5 pm.
Altogether five South Asian nations including host Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives are set to compete in the championship, according to the organiser, Nepal Basketball Association (NBA).
This is the first time that Nepal is hosting international level basketball tournament, said NBA. The event will be played on a round-robin basis.
Nepal had finished second in the last edition of the championship held in Bangladesh while Bangladesh is a defending champion. India had clinched the title in the first edition.
NBA has fixed the entrance fee at Rs 200 per person for the championship.
