Ncell NPL 2014 kicks off; Vishal Group beats Paras led Sagarmatha Legends by 107 runs

Sagarmatha's Binod Bhandari  wins player of the inaugural match of Ncell NPL 2014 against Vishal Group held at Fapla Cricket Ground in Dhangadi on Wednesday.

The first ever domestic cricketing event in Nepal - Ncell Nepal Premier League (NPL) has kicked off at Fapla Cricket Ground in Dhangadi on Wednesday.

In the inaugural match of the Ncell NPL 2014, Sagarmatha Legends under the captainship of Binod Bhandari defeated Vishal Group Warriors captained by Paras Khadka by huge margin 107 runs.

Vishal Warriors was restricted just to 135 runs in 33.3 overs in the allotted 50 overs match. Lal Bahadur Adhikari and Nischal Pandey claimed three wickets each while Chandra Sawad and Mehboob Alam took two wickets for Sagarmatha.

In the first inning, Sagarmatha scored a total of 242 runs losing its all wickets in 49.3 overs as captain Bhandari scored highest 98 runs off 71 balls while Shankar Rana made 30 runs.

Similarly, Rupesh Shrivastav and Sunil Dhamala scored 16 runs each while Rahul BK and Anil Mandal scored 15 runs and 10 runs respectively.

Ramnaresh Giri grabbed three wickets while Sushan Bhari and Yagyaman Kumal claimed two wickets for Vishal Warriors.

Raju Rijal scored 37 runs, Manheet Shrestha 34 runs, Paras Khadka 22 runs and Sumit Shrestha 16 runs for Vishal Warriors.

Binod Bhandari was declared player of the match in today’s tournament.

Altogether six teams owned by different business houses will contest for the prestigious titles in the League.

The participating teams include Tej (owned by Panchakanya Group and captained by Sharad Veshwakar), Colors X Factors (owned by Teletalk Pvt. Ltd. and captained by Gyanendra Malla), Vishal Group Warriors (owned by Vishal Group and captained by Parash Khadka), Kantipur Gurkhas (owned by Kantipur Publications and captained by Basanta Regmi), Jagdamba Giants (owned by Shanker Group and captained by Shakti Gauchan) and Sagarmatha Legends (owned by Ghorahi Cement and captained by Binod Bhandari).
