Olympian shooter Sneha Rajya Laxmi Rana along with three other athletes have been selected to participate at the upcoming 17th Asian Games to be held in Inchon, South Korea from September 19 to October 4, 2014
In the selection event organised by Nepal Shooting Association (NSA), Rana scored 379 points of the total 400 points in Women’s 10m Air Rifle event held at Satdobato Shooting Range.
Similarly, Nepal Police Club’s Asmita Rai and Olympian Fulmaya Kyapchhaki have also been selected for the Asian Games. Rai scored 378 points while Kyapchhaki totaled 376 points.
The minimum qualification score is 375 points.
Similarly, in Men’s 10m Air Pistol, KV Pun from Baglung was the sole shooter to score a minimum qualification score of 563 points of the total 600 points to be selected for the Games.
None of the other athletes could score a minimum qualification of 570 points out of 600 in Men’s 10m Air Rifle and 365 points out of 400 in Women’s 10 m Air Pistol respectively.
However, Rubina Shrestha from Lalitpur totaled 364 points, a point behind the minimum qualification score.
“The board meeting of the association will decide over Shrestha’s selection though she could not meet the minimum qualification score,” says NSA’s secretary and senior coach Pradip Khati.
