The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 18 officials of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), including its chairman Tanka Angbuhang at the Supreme Court on Sunday.
The officials were filed corruption charges following the alleged embezzlement of funds for the construction of cricket stadium and building in Mulpani, Kathmandu, according to CIAA.
The CIAA’s investigation over the CAN unveiled that Rs 14.31 million has been embezzled allocated by national and international organisations.
Similarly, the other officials facing charges include vice-chairmen Chatur Bahadur Chand, Sunil Man Amatya and Binod Kumar Mainali, general secretary Askonath Pyakurel, treasurer Raj Babu Shrestha, members Kiran Shumsher Rana, Thakur Pratap Thapa, Thakur Prasad Pahadi and Purna Bahadur Lama and National Sports Council’s Arun Upadhaya.
Likewise, Gaura Construction’s Surya Adhikari, R Komal Construction’s Ram Sharan Deuja, Nawa Nirman Company’s Krishna Prasad Pandey, Crown Nepal Construction’s Pawan Pathak, Khadka Construction’s Raj Kumar Khadka and Design Shell Architect’s Umesh Man Shrestha and engineer at Sifon Engineering Consultancy Chhabi Lal Adhikari were also charged in the case.
