Depeek Thapa has been unanimously re-elected the president of Kathmandu District Badminton Association through its Annual General Meeting held in the capital on Friday.
Thapa, 36, is elected the president of the Kathmandu District Badminton Association for the second time.
Thapa, a former national player, joined the Association three-year ago as the president of the Association.
Similarly, Prem Bahadur Ayer was elected the vice-president, Sundar Khanal secretary, Subash Karki joint secretary and Bal Krishna Thapa the treasure.
The main focus of the Association is the development of badminton right from the school level, says president Thapa.
“We have planned to reach to at least 140 schools and find around 2,000 players in the Valley this year.”
The Association has planned to select around 300 junior players out of 2,000 players, adds Thapa.
Similarly, the Association will also organise development workshop for the technical officials in order to make them acquainted with an international level coaching. "The main aim of the workshop is to develop badminton with an international coaching skills from the school level."
