The second edition of the Annapurna Post Corporate Invitational Badminton Tournament is scheduled to start at Dasarath Rangashala Covered Hall, Tripurewar, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.
The preparations for the tournament are complete, Deepak Thapa, the president of Kathmandu District Badminton Association, says. “Altogether, 314 players from 75 corporate houses from across the country will compete in the four-day event.”
This year will also see participation of nationally-ranked players in the open category, Thapa adds.
“The tournament will be held under five categories -- corporate doubles, executive singles, executive doubles, open singles and open doubles. It will feature a total of 90 matches.” according to a statement from Kathmandu Badminton Association.
The winner of each category will bag a tola (11.664 gm) of gold in their medal while the runner-up will get half a tola of gold and the third-placed player or team will receive a quarter of a tola of gold.
The tournament is organised jointly by Annapurna Post National Daily and Kathmandu District Badminton Association, with the technical support from Nepal Badminton Association.
