The Nepali Karateka team is set to participate in the South Asian Wadō-ryū Karate Championship to be held in Gujarat, India, from September 8 - 9.
The team, to be led by Nepal Karate Federation general secretary and Nepal Wadō-ryū Karate head coach Harisaran KC, includes Arun Kumar Karki (80 kg), Simon Khatri (85 kg), Bisnu Lal Shrestha (75 kg), Nima Tamang (55 kg and kata), Shyam Bahadur Tamang (65 kg) and Anjan KC (60 kg). The team also includes referee Santosh Majhi and manager Manoj KC.
Similarly, the team also comprises Krishna Kumar Tamang (70 kg and kata), Subash Shyantan (35 kg), Lakpa Dorje Sherpa (40 kg), Bik Bahadur Thami (30 kg) and Jogmer Lama (50 kg).
In the women’s categories, Sushila Maharjan will participate in the 45 kg weight category and Kabita Khadka in the 55 kg.
In the previous edition, Nepal had won the title with nine gold medals, eight silver medals and a bronze.
National Sports Council (NSC)’s member secretary Yuvaraj Lama bade the team farewell in an event at NSC, Tripurewar, Kathmandu, on Wednesday.
