The fifth edition of Gyan Wiz Week Inter-School Intellect Fest has kicked off with mathematics quiz on Sunday at Gyanodaya International Residential School in Khokana, Lalitpur.
Minister for Education Chitra Lekha Yadav inaugurated the week-long event that will feature mathematics quiz, general quiz and spell bee amid a function at the school today.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Minister Yadav expressed her commitment for the development of education in the country.
Yadav also urged the education institutions to come up with suggestions so that they could be included in the education policy.
“Such events in the school level would help boost up additional knowledge of the students,” says Yadav. “School is the base of education.”
Over 60 schools from Kathmandu valley are participating in the event, says Gyanodaya’s vice-principle Bhanu A.
“Students from Grades 8, 9 and 10 are included in the event,” says Jay Ram Adhikari, a senior teacher at Gyanodaya.
Altogether 20 schools participated in the first day of the event, says Adhikari. “The final round will be held on Wednesday.”
“The event will follow spell bee on the second day and general quiz on the third day.”
The week-long event has two participants each in math and general quizzes from each participating school and four each in spelling bee, including a manager.
Registration fee has been set at Rs 1,500 per school while the estimated cost for organising the event is around Rs 300,000.
In the last edition, altogether 62 schools participated in the event.
