At least 11 Nepal Army (NA) personnel were injured, two critically, when an army vehicle met with an accident at Bhedetar of Dhankuta district on Sunday.
The accident occurred when the NA vehicle (Lu 1 Ga 96) collided with a motorbike (Ko 1 P 8811) and skidded off the Itahari-Dhankuta road section along the Koshi Highway. However, it narrowly avoided falling down the cliff, police said.
The Army vehicle had suffered a brake-fail after hitting the motorcycle that was driven by another army personnel, reports coming in say. The bike rider also sustained injuries in the incident.
The driver of the vehicle and the Army captain who was sitting beside him were seriously injured in the incident and are currently receiving treatment at BP Koirala Memorial Hospital in Dharan along with other injured army personnel.
The vehicle was carrying NA personnel deployed to Dhankuta from NA's eastern division for poll security.
