Turkish President Abdullah Gul Friday called on Israel to stop the ongoing air strikes on Gaza Strip. Israel and Palestine should get back to the terms of ceasefire made in 2012, Gul said in a written statement, noting that parties must make efforts in order to resume peace negotiations which will render "indispensable rights" of Palestinian people.
The president also stressed the need for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza, urging the Israeli government to abstain from any land assault into Gaza.
Since Israeli campaign against Hamas began late Monday night, at least 88 Palestinians were killed and 660 injured, as well as more than 70 houses and around 15 governmental constructions in Gaza were destroyed, said Hamas officials.
Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility of launching dozens of long-range and medium range rockets into central and southern Israeli cities, towns and communities in response to the killing of Palestinian civilians.
