Kathmandu, Nov 7 (IANS) Ignoring a rebuff by Nepal’s ruling parties, who have asked the UN not to intervene in the republic’s internal matters, a top UN official is suggesting that the parties fix the powers of President Ram Baran Yadav, whose action almost six months ago triggered a fresh crisis in the Himalayan nation.

I can't believe that after bestowing so much trust and respect on UNMIN..it has
made a statement like this.....shouldn't they support the making of the
consution rather than suggest the parties to fix the powers of the PResident
which will eventually be specifically and clearly defined once the consuion is
written.UNMIn should seriously and dilligently monitor the two armies for which
they are in NEpal. With the start of a fresh agitation from the Maosit, we
seriously doubt that the monitoring by the UNMIN would fail. Infact it won't be
anything new for the PLA to parade around the country dispalying arms in the
soon near future because they have done it a number of times before even after
the monitoring by the UNMIN. I wonder if the job is not done properly or is it
partiality by the UN. All the eyes seemed to be continuously fixed on the Nepal
Army while the back is turned to the PLA. UNMIN should not betray they neutral
...
