Even though the export of manpower suffered sluggishness for some six months because of global meltdown, it has now reverted back to its original shape, said the Foreign Employment Department.
Since the last four months, the number of Nepali workers leaving for foreign jobs has seen gradual increment. Similarly, during the period, Foreign Employment Promotion Board (FEPB) has not received a single application from anybody seeking compensation for the loss of foreign job.
Currently, seven to eight hundred Nepalese are flying towards their respective job destinations on a daily basis. The decision of Malaysia to reopen its manufacturing sector to foreign workers has also left positive impact on the manpower export business of Nepal.
The FEPB is charging Rs 1,000 from each person going abroad for employment in order to assist Nepali workers facing trouble in foreign lands. Till date, some Rs 250 million has been deposited in the FEPB’s fund.
The board, after acquiring approval from the government, has been providing Rs 1 lakh as a relief in case of death of a Nepali worker.
Similarly, if any Nepali worker suffers physical injury, the victim will be compensated by the board in accordance to the extent of injury. nepalnews.com
