NEPSE loses 4.45 points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index lost 4.45 points to close at 530.96 points as compared to the opening day.

The country's sole capital market saw a total trading of 313,800 units of shares worth Rs 15 crore 65 lakh and forty thousand via 4,046 transactions this week.

The turnover of this week declined by 11.32 percent as compared to the same recorded in last week.

Last week, the NEPSE saw a total trading of 358,900 units of shares equivalent to Rs 17 crore 63 lakh and 85 thousand via 4440 transactions.

Of the total shares traded, Group-A companies contributed 6 crore 17 lakh to the total transaction. This accounted for 39.42 percent of the total share transaction.

The sensitive index, the barometer of Group A companies, lost 1.67 points to close at 129.63 points as compared to the opening day.

Only the hydropower and development banks' groups saw their sub-indices going up this week.

The hydropower group gained 6.77 points to close at 789.50 points while the development banks gained a marginal 0.08 points to rest at 590.11 points.

The finance companies' group proved to be the biggest loser of this week as it plummeted by 13.43 points to finish at 529.13 points.

Likewise, the sub-indices commercial banks declined by 5.07 points to end at 5.6.62 points while the insurance companies slid down by 2.20 points to close at 567.79 points.

The companies categorized as other lost 2.35 points to close at 586.29 points while the trade group lost 4.97 points to close at 260.78 points.

However, hotels and manufacturing companies did not see any transaction in the NEPSE. Thus, their sub-indices remained at 438.82 and 366.49 points respectively during this week.

Standard Chartered Bank Limited (SCBL) topped in terms of turnover (1 crore 55 lakh), Sunrise Bank Limited (SBL) stood first in units of share transaction (3945) and Vibor Development Bank Limited (VDBL) experienced the highest number of transactions (804).

Standard Chartered, Sunrise Bank, Vibor Development, Bank of Asia and Nepal Telecom occupied first to fifth positions respectively on the basis of transaction amount.

Shares of 91 companies were traded on the NEPSE floor this week.

Around 3,557,049 units of rights shares of Business Development Bank (BDB), 375,000 units of rights shares of SBL, 1,916,463 units of bonus shares of Everest Bank Limited, and 3,377,592 units of bonus shares of Bank of Kathmandu were listed at NEPSE this week. nepalnews.com
