Shrestha elected vice chair of SAARC chamber

Former president of the FNCCI (Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry) Pradip Kumar Shrestha has been elected vice chairman of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries from Nepal for 2010-11.

According to a press release issued by FNCCI, he was elected to the post following his nomination from the FNCCI as per the provision of nominating one vice chairman each from the seven member countries to the SAARC body.

An executive committee meeting of the SAARC body has also begun in Dhaka from Sunday. The meeting will elect the chairman and other office bearers of the body.

The body was established with an aim to consolidate the trade and commercial relations between the South Asian countries.

Bangladesh is chairing the body for the coming two years. Shrestha left for Dhaka on Saturday to assume the office and take part in the executive committee meeting. nepalnews.com
