In Nepal's two-wheeler market, the market share of Suzuki may currently not be significant but it is shifting its gear strategically to rule the roost in the near future. That is exactly what Raju Bhetwal, Chief General Manager, The Ganesh Enterprises Pvt Ltd, authorized dealer of Suzuki brand of motorbike to Nepal, believes.
Talking to Nepalnews.com, Bhetwal says, "The notion of a level playing field still does not apply in our case.
"However, the strategy of market segmentation that we have been executing will soon make us a player to reckon with in the country's two-wheeler market," he adds cautiously.
In the first phase, the company has been leveraging its efforts in the eastern region of the country.
"And, the sale of Suzuki has simply been phenomenal in this region," beams Bhetwal.
Gradually, the company will execute its strategies, targeting the Bagmati zone, Central and Western regions of the country, he informed.
Bhetwal is of the view that his company is now less focused on broadcasting advertising gimmicks via mass media to promote the brand.
"In fact, we are more zeroed in on applying other forms of marketing tools to sell Suzuki's brand image," he divulges.
It seems that well-orchestrated marketing plan of the Ganesh Enterprises is paying off well.
According to Bhetwal, the sale volume of Suzuki brand of motorcycles in the last month of this year alone is equal to the sale volume of the entire period of last year.
He further states that the main reason behind the lack of competitiveness of the brand in Nepali market is the relatively late production of Suzuki bikes in India.
According to him, it has been just three years since Suzuki, India started producing bikes by acquiring cent percent stake.
"As such, it is naturally tough for us to keep pace with other Indian brands, which have been produced in India and then imported to Nepal since long," reasons Bhetwal.
He claims that the better performance is the unmatched forte of Suzuki. "In a linear fashion, Suzuki is also competitively fuel efficient," he states.
Currently, the company is dealing with eight different models of Suzuki. Three are from India, two from China, two from Japan one from Europe.
GS 150 R, Zeus 125 and Access 125 (scooter) are India-made Suzuki, GN 125 and AN125HK (scooter) are Chinese Suzuki.
Similarly, GSX 1300 R (Hayabusa model) and DR 200SE are from Japan and DR 125 from Europe.
The Ganesh Enterprises is also all set to introduce some eight more models of Japanese Suzuki in the next week in Nepali market.
Among the eight, seven will be of above 600 cc engine and one will be of 200 cc engine.
The company has 4 authorized dealers in the Kathmandu valley whereas the number of authorized dealers outside the valley stands at 21. Nepalnews.com
