A meeting of the parties on Thursday took up the recent report of the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Nepal's peace process, objecting to the UNSG's advice for a national unity government.

"It is not necessary for the United Nations to suggest what kind of government Nepal should have. The government of 22 parties is very much a national government," Nepali Congress parliamentary leader Ram Chandra Poudel fumed as he spoke to reporters after the meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office in Singha Durbar.

Likewise, CPN (UML) leader Pradeep Gyawali, who was present at the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said, "It is the Nepali people who have the prerogative to suggest. The ruling parties have taken the UNSG's report seriously."

Likewise, issuing a press statement, PM Nepal's press advisor Raghuji Panta indirectly criticised the UNSG report saying the previous government led by the Maoists was also a majority government much like the current 22-party government.

In his report presented at the Security Council, UNSG Moon said "a government of national unity remains desirable for timely promulgation of the country's new constitution and for the successful integration and rehabilitation of Maoist army personnel."

Meanwhile, today's meeting of the 22-party ruling coalition concluded that the Maoists violated the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the politics of consensus by launching a protest movement.

The ruling parties also pointed out the possibility of fresh conflict in the country and called upon the Unified CPN (Maoist) to stop the ongoing protests and show flexibility for consensus. nepalnews.com

What does this mean? Why not just ask the maoist to join the current govt. -
that itself is a unity govt. It does not have to be lead by maoists after all
just 6 months back they were leading the govt. - why didnt they forge a unity
govt then and why did they quit when they didnt have to? Maoists have to learn
that Nepalis will shun all dictators and dictatorial ideas - they might as well
get their act together and control their rabid egos and retrain their murdering
cadres. The era for guns is over comrades let cool heads and common sense
prevail. You have gotten rid of monarchy and we said fine - but now fix it - we
dont want another dictator or civil war - the ball is in your court to fix what
you unfixed - from a stable sovereign nation we are now fighting to stay
together like a sack full of stones but the sack is tearing apart.

I don't u nderstand these UN types - they go on and on about democracy and even
call for a very expensive reelction in Afghanistan (lucky it didnt have to go
ahead at great expense of lives and funds)to uphold democratic pracices and when
it comes to the maoists they have no respect for a majoriy in parliament - why
should a governemt with the support of the majority cow tow to a bunch of
murdering thugs who clearly engineered their 38% of seats in the elections (by
the way where were the great UN monitors then - oh I forgot - in Kathmandu the
capital city living it up)?

until now nepal is untamed and solid nation which is envy to others. Now only
legall way to marr nepal,s image is to use UN through UNMIN and its chief is
advocating as their agent and maoist want to happen like this. So,all nepalese
need to be awared of this adversity.I strongly support 22 parties,s decision.God
Pashupati Nath will bless nepali.

ALL YOU ARE GOING TO GET ADVICE FROM YOUR INDIAN MASTER RO RULE THE NEPALESE
PEOPLE, WHO IS PLAYING MONKEY GAME. YOUR INDIAN MASTER'S ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO
ANNEX NEPAL INTO IT. SO, YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING OPTION SINCE YOU CANNOT COME
TOGETHER.

BRING ALL YOUR ACTIVISTS IN THE OPEN STADIUM AND FIGHT WITH EACH
OTHER. THE WINNER PARTY WILL RULE THE COUNTRY. THIS IS THE BEST SOLUTION ONCE
FOR ALL TO END THE DISPUTE.
BUT DON'T EVER TRY TO FOOL THE PEOPLE.

Maoists desisted from governing not longtime ago. Why should they be given again
power to govern?
With 32.36 percent against 67.64 percent of rest of those who
are not Maoists there is no fear of overlapping.
If violence is invited into the
mainstream powerhouse it goes out of control, so why don't play with it.

22 coliation party are ready to abide what the neighbouring counteris say but
lack the willingness to accept the fact in todys'need to form the national
government to lead the country towards secure future.
I think it hightime for
general Napali to think these so called 22 parties heve now the cirsis of their
ideny.
B KERFUL WID MAKUNE POLICY.   |202.79.40.xxx |2009-11-06 07:03:28
THIS STUPID MAKUNE DOES NOT COMMENT ANYTHING STRONGLY AGAINST BIDHYA BHANDARI'S
VIOLATING COMMENT ON COMPREHENSIVE PEACE AGREEMENT. BUT WHEN BAN KI MOON
SUGGESTED NEPLIS TO GO FOR A NATIONAL CONSENSUS GOVERNMENT WHICH WOULD HELP THE
COUNTRY TO GET A NEW CONSUTION AND ARMY INTEGRATION, THEY SAID ITS INTERFARING
THE COUNTRY'S POLITICS. WHAT A DRAMA OF THIS PUPPET MAKUNE? THIS IS 12-PARTY
COMMENT HOWEVER, NOT 22-PARTY DECISION.

Why did NC and UML leaders are opposing the suggestion put forward by General
Secretary of UN? Whey are they taking help of UN? If they are so competent why
their leaders running towards south for advice and suggestions to save their
government. The top leaders of NC and UML are corrupt and anti-people as they
do not want any progress in the country so that they can make fool to the common
people of the country and stay in power. Now the time has come to fight a
decisive battle by the people of nepal either for death or survival. These
feudalistic leaders must be sidelined, these corrupt leaders cannot do any thing
for the country and people. They are slaves of southern neighbour and they
always follow what their masters say. People should be prepared to remove these
leaders from power and take over the country's reins in their hands. Time does
not wait so one should take bold steps for effective and decisive end.
