At least 16 persons have been killed and an estimated two dozen persons injured when a passenger bus skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Hansapur of Arghakhanchi district, Sunday morning.

The bus numbered Lu 1 Kha 3978 had left Gokhunga at 6.30 am, this morning and was heading towards district headquarter Sandhikharka. The accident occurred at a place called Kamerepani, at a distance of five-hour walk from the district headquarter.

Police have said the number of dead could increase further as many passengers are still trapped inside the bus. Although police have reached the site for rescue, they have not been able to reach the place where the bus is trapped due to the extreme difficulty of the landscape.

The recovered sixteen bodies are those that had fallen off the bus through the door and the windows as it was falling off. The bus has been trapped some three hundred metres below the road.

It is estimated about 40 passengers were traveling in the bus.

The deceased include Baburam Khanal, Umesh Khanal, Nabin Poudel, Prem Poudel and his granddaughter, Meera Poudel and her baby, Hari Prasad Panthi and bus driver Surya Bista. Most of the deceased are from Gokhunga. nepalnews.com

The driver is died himself.So instead of punishing the driver punish yourself. If u r a human try to think that the driver might have family left behind too & i am sure he wouldn't die himself if it was his negligence. The fault is of the Government of Nepal who just issue the permission to the transport owner to drive any sort of roads. We are always leaving the driver without any punishment. we say sometimes breal fai. difficult road and so on.. But when you travel in any public transport they are always over loaded. the driving style is more and more careles. The roads are bad. Anyboby at any times can be die in road traffic accident due to carelessness of the driver and bus staff. I think the transport department has not given the permission for more than 30 pengers.
