A cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar Wednesday evening decided to sanction Rs 20 million as advance for now and release more money for the treatment if required.
The treatment cost includes hospital bills in Nepal and Singapore, fare of the air-ambulance used to air-lift Koirala from Kathmandu and lodging, fooding and travel cost of the attendants.
Wednesday’s cabinet meeting has also formed a high-level committee led by former education minister and UML leader Mod Nath Prashrit to prepare a definition of ‘Martyrs’ and recommend criteria to be followed while declaring someone a martyr.
Likewise, the cabinet has promoted Ain Bir Jung Rana as the director of National Investigation Department, and appointed Bharat Bahadur Chand as the chairman and Deepak Upadhyaya as the general manager of Timber Corporation .
It has also authorised finance ministry to take a loan from Asian Development Bank for Small Urban Drinking Water and Sanitation Programme and sign an agreement with the World Bank for a loan and grant of US $ 95 million for School Area Improvement Programme.
Meanwhile, during Wednesday’s cabinet meeting, Prime Minsiter Madhav Kumar Nepal sought clarification from State Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Karima Begum about the incident of slapping Parsa Chief District Officer Durga Prasad Bhandari and instructed her to apologise for the incident.
